SECUDE @ SapphireNow 2018
Booth #290 | Orlando, FL | June 5-7, 2018
Sapphire Now 2018 is among the most awaited SAP annual extravaganza globally. It presents the perfect platform to bring SAP, users and partners together – all under one roof. The three-day event offers the best opportunity to explore innovative enterprise solutions and experience real-world showcases featuring latest digital solutions.
SECUDE was present at the event and had hosted meetings with prospective clients, partners and analysts at its booth (#290). Here is a kaleidoscope of activities at the booth during the event.
Connecting to the serious visitor
SECUDE’s booth, strategically placed, witnessed a buzz of activity in the form of participant visits and over-the-desk discussions. Companies ranging a wide spectrum of industries, such as aviation, manufacturing, healthcare, oil & gas, services and so on, made footfalls. The key proposition was SAP Data Security. What made SECUDE’s data security pitch credible was the presence of Microsoft at SECUDE’s booth.
SECUDE was represented by Dr. Heiner Kromer (chairman), Andreas Opfer (Managing Director & VP Sales EMEA), Holger Huegel (VP – Products & Services), Dola Krishna (Director – Sales, Asia) and Sean Walsh (Director – Sales, USA)
Microsoft and SECUDE: Complementing technologically and at the event
Microsoft’s Enrique Saggese (Principal Program Manager – Information Protection) was a key member at SECUDE’s booth. He was instrumental in explaining how HALOCORE leverages Microsoft’s AIP to extend SAP’s authorization concepts beyond the landscape. His presence was a pleasant addition to the robust SECUDE team at SapphireNow.
Deep interaction with global system integrators
SECUDE held meetings with global system integrators both at the venue and outside. The meetings focused on data security, trends, and how HALOCORE® would add value to integrators existing portfolio of solutions.
With emerging concepts such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and so on, the gamut of threats have also changed. Due to complexity in today’s system landscapes it is virtually impossible to effectively monitor and control data communication, especially dynamic protocol-based machine-to-machine communication.
In the light of SAP C/4 HANA
During the event, SAP revealed and spoke about its fourth-generation, in-memory CX suite built for emerging business models – C/4HANA. SAP states that the solution “brings together customer data, machine learning technology, and microservices to power real-time customer engagements across sales, service, marketing, commerce and beyond”. Indeed. However, the security ramifications of this was a hot topic that was not missed during discussions. SECUDE’s booth was a key venue for visitors who were interested to understand the new SAP proposition from a data security perspective.
Good awareness, but bad approach
Speaking about data security is considered a dog-eared activity. Certain questions such as data leakage also do not seem to evoke strong responses from participants. While it is good to know that there is general awareness, it is worrisome to note that many senior practitioners consider themselves immune to data theft and its repercussions. During the three days SECUDE’s experts elucidated the issues associated with data leakage in context to SAP systems.
