Protecting national interests, not just documents: SECUDE’s HALOCORE secures RCI’s PO transactions
HALOCORE integrates directly with SAP and thus protects RCI’s data with intelligent classification, strong encryption, and fine-grained access policies enabling high level of control and security over sensitive documents extracted from SAP.
Chennai, 10 July 2017 – SECUDE, SAP partner and a leading data security provider specializing in security for SAP software, today announced the implementation of its HALOCORE® solution at the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), a leading laboratory for the Defence Research & Development Laboratory – DRDO (Ministry of Defence, India), located in Hyderabad, Telangana. RCI is responsible for research and development of missile systems, guided weapons and advanced avionics for the Indian Armed Forces.
RCI has been leveraging Information Technology to a great degree to streamline and improve internal operations. It uses SAP as its core ERP system, thus breaking operational silos and integrating vital processes for seamless throughput. This is where all sensitive, confidential and critical information reside. Any unmonitored leak, data breach or data theft has the potential to cause huge disruption to operations, even compromising India’s national security interests.
A real need to secure vital data
Being a Defence Research Lab, RCI was aware that what it deals with was highly sensitive data and therefore it was keen to ensure that it deploys best-of-breed solutions to protect its security front for their enterprise resource planning (ERP) landscape, which also includes data security. In this regard, it shortlisted SECUDE’s HALOCORE data security solution for SAP.
“We are in a very serious domain – technology for national security. Naturally, we take extreme precaution to protect our data inside and outside our premises. SECUDE convinced us of the robustness of its SAP data security solution, HALOCORE, after a string of discussions, demonstrations and a pilot project to gauge its performance within our operational environment. With SECUDE’s HALOCORE, we are now doubly reassured of the security of our data despite multifarious threats,” says Gautam Mahapatra (Director – Technology & Systems).
A matter of pride
“Partnering with a premier institution, such as RCI, is a matter of great pride for SECUDE,” states Dola Krishna, Head – Sales, SECUDE India Private Ltd, who was instrumental in the deal and in implementing the solution at RCI.
“HALOCORE is a unique technology that protects intellectual property and other sensitive information extracted from SAP systems. By integrating directly with SAP, HALOCORE protects data with intelligent classification, strong encryption, and fine-grained access policies. This innovative approach allows RCI to maintain a high level of control and security over sensitive documents extracted from SAP. HALOCORE enables an enterprise to Block data that should not move out of SAP and to protect data that is required outside of SAP,” he adds.
HALOCORE, which consists of four modules: Monitor, Block, Protect, and Data Stream Intelligence, is currently being used in RCI. The solution’s audit functionality provides RCI visibility into all data that are extracted from the enterprise. In addition, the ‘Block’ module of the solution is used to provide an additional layer of security to RCI’s Purchase Order (PO) transactions.
A wider role in the days ahead
In coming months, this SAP data security solution will be extended across all other materials and finance processes in RCI. Also, as a chosen data security solution for the SAP landscape, HALOCORE forms an integral part of DRDO’s plans to expand their enterprise solution built on SAP to their other labs.
